Students may be too busy to admire them, but Winnipeg is home to two of the most beautiful campuses in Canada.

Best Choice Schools, which calls itself the internet’s premier online resource for students looking for information in choosing a school, has created a list of the 30 most beautiful universities in Canada, and ranked the University of Manitoba as its 18th most beautiful campus while the Universite de Saint-Boniface snagged 27th place.

“We reviewed awards and recognition, numbers of notable features, student enjoyment, historical significance and environmental friendliness,” Jamie Agamalian, a spokesman for Best Choice School, said in a statement on Monday about the criteria used in the rankings.

The University of Manitoba is honoured for its “well co-ordinated mix of historic and modern buildings, tree-lined walkways, and lots of green space” and for providing students with everything they need, amenities-wise.

The Universite de Saint-Boniface was noted for being in the heart of one of Winnipeg’s most desirable neighbourhoods with historic buildings on campus and nearby cafés and shopping spots available.

“This French-language university is certainly a peaceful and beautiful place to spend time as a student,” Best Choice said.

The most beautiful campus in Canada is the University of British Columbia, according to the rankings, while the University of Regina scored 30th place.
