Many businesses and government services change their hours over the Louis Riel Day weekend.

Here’s a selection of businesses and services and their plans for the holiday:

SHOPPING

• Most malls will be open Monday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

• The Forks Market will be open Monday with regular hours of 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. The Johnston Terminal will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. (Select tenants may choose to open earlier or close later at their discretion. Please contact individual merchants for their hours of operation.)

• Most grocery stores, including Safeway, Sobeys, Superstore and Walmart, are open Monday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

• Manitoba Liquor Mart stores in Winnipeg will be open Monday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., except for Cityplace, which will be closed. For details on exceptions and rural Liquor Mart hours, visit LiquorMarts.ca/hours.

• Beer vendors and private wine stores set their own hours for the holiday, so Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries suggests the best way to find out if the one near you will be open is to call that location.

 

ENTERTAINMENT

• The Assiniboine Park Zoo will be open Monday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (gates close at 3:30 p.m.)

• The Manitoba Museum will be open Monday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

• The Children’s Museum will be open Monday 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

• The Winnipeg Art Gallery will be open Monday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

• The Canadian Museum for Human Rights will be open Monday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

• Movie theatres are open Monday. Check specific theatres for movie listings.

 

RECYCLING AND TRASH

• Recycling and garbage will be collected as normally scheduled on the Louis Riel Day holiday for those with Monday as their collection day.

• Brady Road Landfill (commercial customers only) will be open Monday from 5:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

• Brady Road 4R Winnipeg Depot will be open Monday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

LEISURE ACTIVITIES

• All leisure centres will be closed on Monday.

• All City of Winnipeg indoor swimming pools will be closed on Monday, with the exception of the Pan Am Pool, Margaret Grant Pool and the Cindy Klassen Recreation Complex.

• The Pan Am Pool will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Margaret Grant Pool will be open from 1 to 5 p.m. The Cindy Klassen Recreation Complex will be open from 2 to 6 p.m.

 

WINNIPEG TRANSIT

• On Monday, buses will operate on a Sunday schedule.

• For route and schedule details, visit Winnipeg Transit’s website or contact 311.

 

LIBRARIES

• All Winnipeg Public Library branches will be closed Monday.

• For detailed information on library hours, call 311 or visit the Winnipeg Public Library website.

 

CEMETERIES

• Cemetery grounds at Brookside, St. Vital and Transcona Cemeteries will be open Monday for visitation from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

• Cemetery offices will be closed on Monday.

• For more information on city cemeteries, visit the municipal cemeteries branch online or contact 311.

 

GOVERNMENT SERVICES

• Civic and provincial offices will be closed Monday.

• The Winnipeg Parking Authority will be closed Monday.

• The Winnipeg Animal Services Agency will be closed Monday.
