At least three homes in Winnipeg were raided by RCMP Wednesday morning as part of an ongoing investigation into organized crime.

The Mounties have released few details but said federal officers executed search warrants at locations within Winnipeg and in parts of the Interlake. The raid involved multiple specialized units and an armoured vehicle.

Near the intersection of Templeton Avenue and Brambleberry Place, marked RCMP vehicles were parked in the front and back of a Garden City home into the afternoon. A number of vehicles came and went from the modest brick house throughout the morning, said a nearby resident who declined to give her name.

“There’s been a lot of police back and forth, but that’s all I can tell you,” said the woman, who added that the same people had been living in the house for years.

RCMP cruisers were also stationed outside of a single family home in the 400 block of Centennial Street in River Heights for much of the day.

An officer on scene said a person had been taken into custody and police were finishing up their investigation within the small bungalow.

Across town, in the Royalwood area, RCMP were also present outside a home on Bunton Court.

Details on arrests, charges and seizures would be released when available, RCMP said.
