Manitoba’s Jennifer Jones is poised to advance to the Scotties Tournament of Hearts championship pool.

Jones, a six-time national women’s curling champion and 2014 Olympic gold medallist, posted a lopsided 12-3 victory over Melissa Adams of New Brunswick this morning in Calgary to improve to 5-2 in Pool B round-robin play.

Only four teams from pools A and B will continue to compete Friday and Saturday, while 10 squads will be eliminated.

Tracy Fleury’s team from East St. Paul, the event’s first wild-card team, beat Sarah Hill of Newfoundland-Labrador 11-2 to finish the Pool B round-robin at 5-3. The squad, skipped by two-time Canadian champion Chelsea Carey, is guaranteed at least a tie-breaker to get into the championship pool.

This afternoon, Winnipeg’s Beth Peterson (Wild Card 3) faces Kerry Galusha of Northwest Territories in a battle of 4-3 teams in Pool A, with the winner advancing.

Team Canada’s Kerri Einarson (7-0) can go through unbeaten with a victory this afternoon over Rachel Homan of Ontario (6-1).

Mackenzie Zacharias’ Altona team (Wild Card 2) plays Northern Ontario in its final game of the Scotties.
