Dear readers:

The most recent COVID-19 variant has struck workforces across the province, and the Winnipeg Free Press is also feeling its effects.

In order to cope with an increase in absences by staff and newspaper carriers, we are making a few adjustments that could delay delivery of your morning printed edition.

MIKAELA MACKENZIE / FREE PRESS FILES In order to cope with an increase in absences by staff and newspaper carriers due to COVID, we are making a few adjustments that could delay delivery of your morning printed edition.

The Free Press normally completes deliveries by 7 a.m. weekdays and 8 a.m. Saturdays, but we have moved the deadlines temporarily for the city of Winnipeg to 9 a.m. weekdays and 10 a.m. Saturdays.

Most subscribers will not see any change in delivery. However, we ask for patience if your newspaper is not delivered at the usual time.

Our customer service representatives have been overwhelmed by calls in recent days. Many of you have expressed frustrations at being put on hold or not getting through to a Free Press representative.

I apologize to those of you who have had these experiences. We will do better if you give us a little more time in the morning.

This is a temporary change, and we will return to normal delivery times as soon as possible.

The electronic replica edition of the Free Press will not be delayed, however, and will be available bright and early each morning, as always. It is available to all subscribers by clicking on “E-Edition” at winnipegfreepress.com.

If you are a print subscriber and have not yet signed up for digital access, you can do so at winnipegfreepress.com or by contacting us at directly by phone (204-697-7001) or by email (digitalfeedback@winnipegfreepress.com).

Bob Cox is publisher of the Winnipeg Free Press
