Winnipeg police have yet to arrest anyone for the slaying of a 36-year-old woman or the assaults on three men in Point Douglas Monday.
Police said Tuesday investigators suspect the violent incidents near Main Street are related and they believe the assailant assaulted other people who have not come forward.
The body of a woman was found in a suite at 189 Jarvis Ave.
On Tuesday, police confirmed the death was a homicide and said the victim was Danielle Dawn Ballantyne of Winnipeg. Her slaying is the 33rd in Winnipeg this year.
Police have not revealed whether they have identified any suspects, or if the public is at risk.
It’s unclear whether there is any connection between the four victims or if they were targeted.
All of the assault victims are still in hospital: two are in critical condition, while the third has stabilized.
The homicide unit is overseeing all four of the investigations with the assistance of officers from the major crimes unit.
A man was assaulted at a Main Street parking lot between Jarvis and Sutherland avenues at about 4:30 a.m. .
Officers found him suffering from severe injuries.
About 30 minutes later, police were called to a lane near the Bell Hotel on Main Street where a man had been seriously injured.
The third injured man was found near Logan Avenue and the Disraeli Freeway.
