A trio of recent first-round draft choices leads a squad of Winnipeg Jets prospects in Penticton, B.C., this weekend at the 2022 Young Stars Classic tournament.

Cole Perfetti, the 10th overall selection in the 2020 NHL Draft who scored twice and added five assists in 18 games last season for the Jets, joins 2021 first-round pick Chaz Lucius and ‘22 first-rounder Brad Lambert on the forward unit.

Players begin Jets rookie camp with a skate Wednesday at the Iceplex at 1:30 p.m. and then head west to battle prospects from the Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers and Vancouver Canucks organizations.

Winnipeg faces Calgary on Friday at 6 p.m. before meeting the Canucks on Sunday at 4 p.m. and the Oilers on Monday at 1 p.m.

Greg Meireles, who fired five goals and picked up 22 assists for the Manitoba of the American Hockey League last season, will also play up front, and is joined by Moose teammates Thomas Caron, Daniel Torgersson, Henri Nikkanen, Isaac Johnson and Tyler Boland.

Rounding out the forward group are Wyatt Bongiovanni, Danny Zhilkin, Brandon Cutler and Chase Bertholet.

Moose regulars Simon Lundmark and Dean Stewart are on the team’s blue line, along with Tyrel Bauer, Dmitry Kuzmin, Wyatt Wilson, Simon Kubicek, Ethan Cap and Anton Johannesson.

Moose goalie Arvid Holm joins Oskari Salminen and Domenic DiVincentiis in the crease.

The Jets’ main training camp begins Thursday, Sept. 22 with physical fitness testing.
