Larry Roberts, communications director for Ontario-based operator Revera Inc., said Wednesday contractors were able to connect temporary water tanks to Beacon Hill Lodge on Tuesday night.

Roberts said the connection restored running water to the building at 190 Fort St., and allowed the facility “to resume normal operations as they work to repair the main supply pipe.”

Larry Roberts, communications director for Ontario-based operator Revera Inc., said Wednesday contractors were able to connect temporary water tanks to Beacon Hill Lodge on Tuesday night.

A Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service spokeswoman said the department’s fire prevention branch checked the building to make sure everything was okay.

“(The branch) reports that no life safety systems, including sprinklers, were affected, therefore no fire watch has been directed by WFPS,” she said.

The water was shut off Jan. 15, after the main leak was discovered. The facility’s crawlspace and elevator pit had to be mopped up but the building’s heating system wasn’t affected.

Residents and staff had to add water to toilets to make them flush, while potable water was brought in for drinking, meal service and to give sponge baths.

Laundry was taken to a nearby Revera-run facility.
