Premier Heather Stefanson appointed her director of policy as her new chief of staff Wednesday.
The premier’s office confirmed Brad Salyn has replaced Phil Houde, whose departure was announced last week. Houde had been in that role since the summer, and had served as former premier Brian Pallister’s chief of staff. As part of a “refresh” of her leadership team, Stefanson also announced that Don Leitch, the clerk of the executive council she appointed after becoming premier in November 2021, was being replaced by Kathryn Gerrard.
Salyn served as former Winnipeg mayor Sam Katz’s chief of staff. The premier’s office said Salyn will be assisted by Kelly McRae, who takes on the role as deputy chief of staff. There was no word on who would replace Salyn as director of policy.
More changes are still to come and will be announced in the near future, the premier’s press secretary said Thursday.
