More than 6,000 health-care workers in Manitoba are being asked to vote on whether they are in favour of going on strike.
The strike vote for employees represented by the Manitoba Association of Health-Care Professionals is set for April 11-13 for allied health members of the union.
The union announced the upcoming strike vote on its website after arranging town hall meetings with members, which continue until Wednesday.
The union is currently bargaining with health regions on behalf of 6,500 employees who’ve been without a contract for five years.
In mid-March, union president Jason Linklater suggested in an interview a strike vote was on the horizon.
At the time, he said the union was “going to have to exercise all of our options.”
