THE spring snow storm will make it tougher to hide eggs this Easter, but many will have extra time to shovel, as most Manitobans don’t work Good Friday.

More will be back to work Easter Sunday and Monday, which are not recognized as statutory holidays in Manitoba.

The Free Press will only be available via e-edition on Friday and Monday. There will be no printed paper either day.

A number of places in Winnipeg will alter their hours Good Friday, Easter Sunday and Easter Monday.

Here’s a selection:

Shopping

CF Polo Park will open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and stay closed Sunday. St. Vital Centre will open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and stay closed Sunday. Grant Park Shopping Centre will stay closed Friday and Sunday. Kildonan Place will open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and stay closed Sunday. Outlet Collection Winnipeg will open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and stay closed Sunday.

The Forks Market will open regular hours.

Most grocery stores, including Safeway, Sobeys, Superstore and Walmart, will open at regular or reduced hours Friday and Sunday.

Manitoba Liquor Mart stores in Winnipeg will be closed Friday and Sunday. For details on exceptions and rural Liquor Mart hours, visit www.LiquorMarts.ca/hours.

Beer vendors and private wine stores set their own hours for the holiday, so it’s best way to call ahead before heading out.

Entertainment

The Assiniboine Park Zoo will be open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Canadian Museum for Human Rights will be open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Sunday, and will be closed Monday.

The Children’s Museum will open 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday, Sunday and Monday.

The Manitoba Museum will open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m Friday for its First Friday event, which includes free admission to galleries, planetarium, and science gallery. The museum will hosting a talk with Martin Boyce, one of the last surviving activists of the Stonewall Riots, at 7 p.m. It will open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, and stay closed Monday.

The Royal Aviation Museum of Western Canada will open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Sunday and Monday.

The Winnipeg Art Gallery will open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, and closed Friday and Monday.

Movie theatres will be open.

Recycling and trash

Recycling and garbage will be collected as regularly scheduled on Friday and Monday.

Leisure activities

All city pools will be closed Friday, except for Pan Am Pool (open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.), Margaret Grant (open 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.) and the Cindy Klassen Recreation Complex (open 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.).

Pan Am Pool and Cindy Klassen Recreation Complex are the only leisure centres that will be open Friday and Monday.

All pools and leisure centres will be open regular hours Saturday, and all sites will close at 4 p.m. Sunday.

Winnipeg transit

On Friday, buses will operate on a Sunday schedule.

Libraries

All Winnipeg Public Library branches will be open regular operating hours Saturday, and stay closed Friday and Sunday.

Millennium, Bill and Helen Norrie, Henderson, Louis Riel, Pembina Trail, St. James-Assiniboia and West Kildonan Library will be open 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Monday.

Cemeteries

Brookside, St. Vital and Transcona cemetery grounds are set to be open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Cemetery offices will be closed on the holiday.

Government services

Civic, provincial and federal offices will close Friday. Civic offices will be closed Monday.

The Winnipeg Parking Authority will be closed Friday and Monday.

The Winnipeg Animal Services Agency will be closed Friday and Monday. It will open regular hours Saturday, and from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

There will be no mail delivery on Friday and Monday.

Canada Post offices won’t be open, but post offices operated by the private sector will be open according to the hours of service of the host business.
