Hey there, time traveller!

The Manitoba High Schools Athletic Association has announced its 2023 Hall of Fame Class and the list includes four builders and one team.
The honoured builders include Ken Overby of Teulon Collegiate (multi-sport), Gord Nixon of Russell’s Major Pratt School (multi-sport), Daryl Ford of Glenboro School (volleyball) and Morris Glimcher, the former executive director of the MHSAA.
The lone team to be recognized is the 1996-98 Morris School varsity girls volleyball club.
Overby, already a member of the Manitoba Basketball Hall of Fame, coached junior varsity and varsity girls basketball, varsity boys basketball, cross-country and track and field from 1995 to 2010 after beginning his career at Warren Collegiate.
Nixon coached volleyball, hockey, fast pitch and baseball at Major Pratt. His coaching and teaching career has spanned more than 46 years. Starting at Major Pratt School in 1992, he led teams to four varsity boys volleyball championships, a fast pitch championship and a baseball championship.
Meanwhile, Ford has coached track and field, badminton, basketball, golf, fast pitch and football over his coaching career in Glenboro. He was Zone 6 president for four years and was inducted into the Manitoba Volleyball Hall of Fame as a builder in 2008.
Glimcher served as the MHSAA executive director from 1975 to 2016 before retiring and was the longest-serving executive director in Canada.
In the team category, the 1996-97 Morris varsity girls volleyball squad went undefeated in Zone 4 league and playoffs. The squad went undefeated in AA provincials and finished with an overall record of 42-5.
In 1997-98, the team was again undefeated in Zone 4 league and playoffs and successfully defended its AA provincial championship, going unbeaten during the tournament.
The 2023 inductees will be celebrated at a reception May 13 at the Canad Inn Destination Centre Club Regent.
