The Work in Manitoba job portal, launched by the Manitoba government in November 2022, is helping connect employers with job seekers to fill vacancies and provide meaningful employment to Manitobans.

“We have heard from employers across the province that they are facing recruitment issues due to world-wide labour market challenges,” said Jeff Wharton, Minister for Economic Development, Investment and Trade.

“Our government is taking action to help alleviate these challenges while supporting job seekers, and we are thrilled to have launched the Work in Manitoba job portal, which is helping match employers with potential employees.”

“Our team’s goal is to attract, connect, mobilize and retain talent to ensure a strong talent pipeline for Manitoba employers. The portal is a powerful tool to support businesses seeking candidates and to demonstrate the breadth of career opportunities that exist in Winnipeg to attract new residents,” says Yvonne Kinley, Director, Talent & Workforce Development with Economic Development Winnipeg. The Work in Manitoba portal has already helped many local businesses identify and recruit skilled talent needed to fill critical vacancies.

“We have enjoyed partnering with the team on our overseas recruitment missions, utilizing their free, year-round portal, which is relatively easy to use and allows employers to target the exact education, skills and location for their potential talent pool,” says Samantha Okoro, Human Resources, Pollard Banknote Ltd. “You can post as many jobs as you want and use the portal as your database and tracking system or receive resumes to your email or applicant tracking system. Convenient and straightforward, it’s a great way to explore additional candidate sources in Canada and overseas.”

Delphi Technology Corp. used the Work in Manitoba job portal to post opportunities and find qualified candidates in Hong Kong: a DevOps Engineer and Full Stack Developer. One of these candidates landed in Winnipeg just two weeks after Delphi delivered the offer letter, which meant the entire process took just one month from start to finish.

“A significant number of employers have shared with us that they’ve been successful in filling open positions using the portal, and we’re anticipating many more of these positive outcomes. Investment follows talent, so we need to make sure we have a skilled workforce to enable our city’s growth,” says Kinley.
