The name of the young man charged with repeatedly stabbing a pregnant Erickson woman in her bed has been released by RCMP.
Carter Prince, 18, has been charged with attempted murder, break and enter to commit an indictable offence, and possession of a prohibited weapon. He has been remanded in custody after a court appearance in Brandon.
Candace Richardson, 30, was stabbed several times and had her throat slashed June 6, at about 1:55 a.m., when a man entered her Erickson home and attacked her as she slept in the basement.

Candace Richardson is recovering in the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg after being violently attacked in her Erickson home early Tuesday morning. A family member said Richardson, who is pregnant, had her throat slashed and has more than 10 stab wounds, including to her abdomen, head and neck. (Submitted)
According to reports, the pregnant woman was stabbed 10 times, including twice in the chest and once in the abdomen and head, and beaten. She later had to have a piece of broken knife blade surgically removed from her skull.
The attacker fled the scene. The injured woman was able to make her way to a nearby home, where one neighbour (a former nurse) applied first aid and another called 911.
Richardson is recovering in hospital in Winnipeg.
RCMP arrested the 18-year-old man June 7 in Erickson.
Police have said the accused wasn’t previously known to the victim, and called the attack a random event.
According to locals, the woman and her fiancé have run a restaurant inside the Erickson Curling Club for less than one year. Her fiancé was away at the time of the attack.
Erickson (population 470) is located some 80 kilometres north of Brandon.
