Winnipeg police have arrested a Winnipeg man in connection with a 3D-printed gun-trafficking ring.

The 21-year-old man was taken into custody Tuesday by city police, who were asked to assist by Montreal police, who began probing the online sale of 3D-printed gun parts in November 2022.

Quebec police identified a suspect in Winnipeg who was believed to be involved in buying parts online.

On Tuesday, officers executed a search warrant at a home on the 100 block of Greenway Cres. and arrested the suspect nearby.

Officers found four functional 3D-printed handguns and two 3D-printed handgun receiver parts in the home, as well as several other weapons, two 3D printers, body armour and 57 grams of psilocybin mushrooms.

The 21-year-old man, who remains in police custody, will be charged with several firearms and weapons offences, weapons trafficking, possession of body armour and possession of a scheduled substance.

His name wasn’t released since the charges haven’t been formally laid.
