The Winnipeg Blue Bombers will finally have Kenny Lawler in the lineup this week.
The CFL club, looking to rebound from Saturday’s major collapse against the Ottawa Redblacks, will add the talented receiver to its arsenal.
Lawler, who missed the first six games of the 2023 season, will practice Tuesday and Wednesday, and is expected to suit up as the Bombers (4-2) host the sad sack Edmonton Elks (0-6) — his former team — on Thursday. Game time is 7:30 p.m. at IG Field.

Kenny Lawler (89) is expected to be in the Blue Bombers’ lineup Thursday against the Edmonton Elks.
Lawler will speak to reporters after Tuesday’s practice. Winnipeg could use a shot in the arm after blowing a 19-point lead in the fourth quarter and losing 31-28 in overtime in the nation’s capital.
Immigration issues stemming from a previous drunk-driving conviction forced the Bombers to place the 29-year-old Californian on the suspended list until the matter was resolved.
Initially, the team suggested Lawler would miss only three or four weeks.
Lawler was arrested on October 2021. At the time, he was the CFL leader in receiving yards (703) and second in receptions (45) and touchdown receptions (four).
Lawler rejoined the Bombers in free agency after spending the 2022 season with the Elks. He caught 58 passes for 894 yards and five touchdowns in 12 games during the 2022 campaign.
The two-time West Division all-star and one-time league all-star was a part of the Bombers’ 2019 and 2021 Grey Cup-winning squads.
