A person was rushed to hospital in unstable condition after a house fire on Sherbrook Street early Tuesday.
Fire crews were sent to the house in the 400 block of Sherbrook at 12:53 a.m. and declared the fire under control at 1:11 a.m.
The fire was one of six that crews extinguished Monday night and early Tuesday morning.
Crews were sent to the last of the fires, in a four-unit townhouse in the 200 block of Peguis Street, at 5:35 a.m. Crews declared the fire under control at 6:11 a.m.
Shortly before that fire, at 4:49 a.m., crews were sent to a fire in a one-storey house in the 200 block of Selkirk Avenue. They declared the fire under control at 5:55 a.m.
Crews were sent to a fire in a two-and-a-half storey house in the 200 block of Lipton Street at 4:43 a.m. Everyone got out safely before firefighters arrived at the home, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service said in a news release. The City of Winnipeg’s emergency social services team went to the scene to help up to 12 residents find alternate temporary housing. A bus was used to provide temporary shelter as crews extinguished the fire, which was declared under control at 5:14 a.m.
A vacant house in the 400 block of Dufferin Avenue was ordered to be demolished after a fire broke out there late Monday night. Crews were sent to the scene at 11:33 p.m. and used an aerial ladder to battle the blaze. They declared the fire under control at 12:57 a.m. Tuesday.
One person was treated by paramedics after a fire in a bungalow in the 0-100 block of Riverbend Avenue. Crews were sent to the home at 8:32 p.m. Monday and declared the fire under control at 8:50 p.m. The home sustained damage from fire and smoke.
