Two women have been charged with aggravated assault in the stabbing of a 28-year-old woman during an argument in a bus shelter Sunday evening.
Police said the incident took place on the 1800 block of Ellice Avenue, near Route 90, at about 7:50 p.m. Sunday.
Police officers placed a tourniquet on the victim to stem the bleeding before paramedics arrived.
The woman was taken to hospital in unstable condition and was later upgraded to stable. Officers arrested two women at the scene.
Police allege the victim approached the suspects and an argument erupted. One of the suspects produced a knife and stabbed the victim multiple times, police said.
The victim did not know the suspects, police said.
Spokesman Const. Claude Chancy said police do not know how long or why the two accused were in the bus shelter, nor what the argument was about.
The accused and victim did not co-operate with police.
Crystal Mary Helen Beardy, 46, was charged with aggravated assault and was held in custody.
She’s accused of multiple thefts and administrative breaches in the past four years. She’s due in court Thursday.
A 33-year-old woman was released on an undertaking.
