As hundreds of Crown corporation workers strike across the province, most Manitobans will have the day off work Monday to reflect on the achievements of labour unions present and past.

Labour Day weekend generally heralds the unofficial end of summer, and is a federal holiday in both Canada and the United States.

The Free Press will not publish an e-edition or print edition of the paper Sunday or Monday.

Beer vendors and private wine stores set their own hours for the holiday, so Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries Corp. suggests the best way to find out if the one near you will be open is to call.
