A six-year-old girl was airlifted to hospital in critical condition Monday morning, after being hit by a school bus in Steinbach.
RCMP spokeswoman Cpl. Julie Courchaine said the collision happened outside Steinbach Regional Secondary School at about 8:30 a.m.
The girl, who lives in the area, suffered serious injuries, said Courchaine.

Her condition was critical when a air ambulance helicopter transported her to Children’s Hospital in Winnipeg, said STARS spokesman Blake Robert.
The incident happened near the bus loop at the school, Hanover School Division confirmed in a statement on its website.
“Several students on the bus and another bus witnessed the accident, as did nearby walking students,” the statement said.
“Divisional and school care teams debriefed students on site. If your child witnessed the accident or is aware of the accident and needs further support, please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s school.”
Courchaine said the investigation into the collision is ongoing.
