A man lying at the entrance of a car wash died after being run over by an SUV early Saturday. Police are asking the public for any information that could help with the investigation.
An autopsy is pending for the 48-year-old victim, which is expected to reveal his cause of death and perhaps shed light on how he came to be lying in front of a car wash, police said Monday.
“It’s no question a tragic incident, but if anyone has additional information, to certainly give us a call,” said Winnipeg Police Service spokesman Const. Jason Michalyshen.

A man believed to have been lying near the entrance of a car wash was killed when an SUV entered the business early Saturday. The incident happened in the 500 block of Notre Dame Avenue at about 2:40 a.m. The 48-year-old man was transported to hospital in critical condition and later pronounced dead, the Winnipeg Police Service said Monday.
The incident happened at about 2:40 a.m. Jan. 6 at a car wash on Notre Dame Avenue and Langside Street. A 56-year-old man driving an Infiniti QX60 drove into the car wash entrance via an overhead garage door and struck the victim, who was taken to hospital in critical condition and later pronounced dead.
Investigators have identified everyone directly involved and are still trying to find out more about what happened. They’re eager to speak to anyone who may have video surveillance footage or any other information.
“We don’t want to speculate what the circumstances could be. We want to get as much information brought forward as possible,” Michalyshen said.
Anyone with information, including video, can call traffic division investigators at 204-986-7085 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-8477 (TIPS).
