A Stony Mountain Institution inmate on the run since last week was arrested Monday in Selkirk.
On Tuesday morning, the Correctional Service of Canada announced the apprehension of 24-year-old Terry Dutko, who fled during an escorted temporary absence Jan. 10 in Winnipeg.
Mounties said Winnipeg Police Service major crimes officers, working with the joint city police-RCMP Manitoba violent offender unit, investigated to locate the escaped federal inmate.

The unit’s officers discovered Monday that Dutko was at a home on Toronto Avenue in Selkirk, police said. Officers from the local RCMP detachment and a police dog unit also arrived to assist.
Dutko ran from the rear of the house as officers approached, but was quickly caught, Mounties said.
RCMP said the man was refusing to comply with commands, so Mounties unleashed a police dog to assist. Dutko allegedly punched and kicked the dog before officers got him into handcuffs.
Dutko was injured by the dog; an RCMP officer from Selkirk and a WPS officer were hurt during the arrest. All three were treated and released from hospital.
Police took Dutko back to Stony Mountain. He is to be charged with being unlawfully at large and two counts each of resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer.
Dutko was sentenced to nearly 12 years in prison after a violent carjacking and high-speed chase in a stolen Winnipeg police cruiser in 2019.
