Two men have been arrested after separate collisions involving stolen vehicles this weekend.

In the first incident, Winnipeg police attempted to pull over a stolen vehicle near St. Matthews Avenue and St. James Street just before midnight Saturday, police said in a news release Sunday.

The drive fled and collided with two other vehicles, police said.

Officers deployed a spike strip, which caused the stolen vehicle to come to a stop in a snowbank in the 200 block of Rita Street.

The driver fled on foot but was located shortly after in the 200 block of Ainslie Street, police said.

A 32-year-old man with outstanding warrants was arrested and faces charges. He remains in custody.

About an hour later, officers spotted a stolen vehicle driving erratically near Valour Road and St. Matthews.

During the pursuit, the stolen vehicle collided with a police car at Burrows Avenue and Sgt. Tommy Prince Street, police said.

A 33-year-old man was arrested and faces a variety of charges. He remains in custody.

In both cases, Winnipeg police used its helicopter to track the suspects.
