Officials in Scotland said Tuesday that the body of a slain Canadian woman will be released to her family as soon as possible.
Clint Leveque, who lives in Teulon, told the Free Press on Monday that he didn’t know where his daughter Claire Leveque’s body was being held or when she will be repatriated after she was killed in Scotland. Her boyfriend allegedly killed the Alberta-born 24-year-old woman at a seaside home in the tiny community of Sandness on Feb. 11.
Scotland’s Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service sent a statement to the Free Press Tuesday saying it recognizes “the impact any delay in the return of the body of a family member can have on the bereaved.”

The service said it seeks to ensure “loved ones are returned as quickly as possible once the necessary post-mortem examinations are conducted.
“The investigation is ongoing, and the family will continue to be kept updated in relation to any significant developments.”
Clint Leveque wants to have his daughter cremated and her ashes returned to Canada so he can spread them in Jasper National Park.
Aren Pearson, 39, is charged with murder in the alleged case of intimate partner violence. The pair met in Edmonton and moved to Shetland, where Pearson has family, late last year.
