Police are seeking more suspects in connection with a man’s slaying in Lake Manitoba First Nation a year ago.
Lyndon McIvor, 25, was last seen on the community’s main road at about 5:30 a.m. on Aug. 26, 2023, after a night out with friends.
RCMP asked for the public’s help in finding him two days later. McIvor’s remains were found by searchers in a forested area of the community on Aug. 31.

Barry Leslie Swan, who is from the First Nation, was later charged with second-degree murder. He was 36 when he was arrested for McIvor’s slaying on Sept. 2.
Court records indicate Swan is scheduled to appear in Ashern court on Sept. 11.
“Investigators believe his body was dumped in this location and there are more individuals that were involved in his death,” RCMP said in a news release Monday, the anniversary of the date McIvor was last seen alive.
Sgt. James Demidiuk of RCMP major crime services said investigators know there are people out there with “crucial information” that could help police.
“We need those people to come forward and speak to police so everyone involved in this homicide can be held accountable,” he said in a release.
The victim’s mother, Cheryl Maytwayashing, said the family was devastated to learn he had been killed.
“When we found out that Lyndon was gone, our hearts were torn and broken,” she said in the release.
“Lyndon was a son, brother, friend and father to two sons who were his pride and joy. We know there are people that have information on his death, and we are asking that you do the right thing and tell police what you know.”
RCMP are asking anyone with information about the homicide to call the major crime services tip line at 431-489-8110, or contact Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or online.
