Hey there, time traveller!
This article was published 19/12/2024 (283 days ago), so information in it may no longer be current.
Delta 9 is well-poised to become Manitoba’s cannabis superstore thanks to its upcoming acquisition by FIKA Company. Mark Vasey, CEO of FIKA Company, took the time to share some insights about the journey ahead. Today, they have invested heavily to make Delta 9’s retail business have the strongest cannabis product selection in the province.
What does the acquisition mean for Delta 9 stores in Manitoba?
All Delta 9 stores open today in Manitoba, will stay open operating under the same name. We are investing in inventory, the people, and the stores. We’re excited about the opportunity to improve the customer experience, making sure everyone who walks through the door finds the right cannabis product for them.
What can customers expect when they walk into a Delta 9 store in the next few months?
Delta 9 now offers the largest selection and best variety of cannabis products in the province. Historically, Delta 9 carried around 200 products – they are expanding that to nearly 800, transforming the store into Manitoba’s cannabis superstore. The goal is to make Delta 9 the go-to destination for cannabis consumers who want a wide range of high quality products.
We’ll also be investing in new merchandising displays, making the store experience more engaging and showcasing cannabis in a fresh, exciting way. At the same time, we’re empowering our in-store teams to deliver exceptional service and share their expertise with customers. With these changes, we’re excited to re-energize the customer base and encourage people to try new products.
What is FIKA Company?
Originally founded in 2020, we started out as FIKA Herbal Goods, our first cannabis brand. Since then, we’ve grown into FIKA Company and own 201 stores across a portfolio of 14 retail cannabis brands, soon to include Delta 9. Our stores are located nationwide across Manitoba, Ontario, Alberta, Saskatchewan, B.C., and Yukon.
Our business strategy across Canada is built on securing prime retail locations and working with top tier landlords, allowing us to expand our footprint in key markets.
The word “fika” has Swedish roots, meaning “take a break.” The ethos behind our company is about taking a moment to relax and spend high quality time with family and friends.
Why was Delta 9 a good acquisition for you?
What excites us about Delta 9 is their long-standing recognition in Manitoba as cannabis pioneers for nearly a decade. They’ve been operating in Manitoba since obtaining the original medical license and went on to open some of the very first recreational cannabis stores in the province.
Prior to the upcoming Delta 9 acquisition, FIKA had a limited footprint in Manitoba. Adding Delta 9 to our community of brands will allow us to grow our presence meaningfully in the province. We are excited to receive regulatory & court approval to close the transaction early in the new year.
What opportunities do you see for retail cannabis in Manitoba in the future?
We’ll continue to advocate for the purchase of legal cannabis as it encourages more responsible consumption and supports a promising industry that creates jobs and opportunity. As leaders, our goal is to make sure that more people choose to buy cannabis through legal channels over time, which benefits everyone.
Anything else that Delta 9 customers can look forward to?
Delta 9 is here to stay, and we encourage customers to keep visiting Delta 9 stores and come check out what is new. Delta 9 is already bringing in tons of new products, more variety, and better prices. To show appreciation to Delta 9 customers, they have recently introduced a leading loyalty program, Spark Rewards. Now, members can earn and redeem points, plus get exclusive access to many promotions and exciting giveaways.
