Four Winnipeggers have been arrested and one man is wanted in a drug operation linked to fentanyl products pressed into colourful shapes such as cookies and soaps, police say.
The Winnipeg Police Service issued a public warning last month about the new form of fentanyl that was circulating on city streets.
“They’ve been done in a mould, clearly, and they’re intriguing. So the No. 1 caution is children, they could really easily be drawn to things that are that aesthetically pleasing,” Const. Dani MacKinnon said Feb. 21 when the warning was issued.

Four Winnipeggers have been arrested and one man is wanted in a drug operation linked to fentanyl products pressed into colourful shapes such as cookies and soaps, police say.
In a news release Saturday, police said an investigation by its guns and gang unit into the new products resulted in the arrests as well as the seizure of about 880 grams of fentanyl, 1,827 grams of meth, 223 grams of cocaine, opioid pills and over $50,000 in cash from the West Alexander neighbourhood last month.
Police said the drugs, valued at about $225,000, were seized during a traffic stop at Logan Avenue and Gunnell Street, at an apartment block in the 800 block of Winnipeg Avenue and a residence in the 300 block of Atkins Street.
Charged with a variety of offences including trafficking are: David Cameron Gray, 51, of Winnipeg, Amy Jose Lynn Gray, 21, of Winnipeg, and Destiny Dawn Gray 37, of Winnipeg. All three were detained in custody.
A 32-year-old Winnipeg woman was also arrested, but she was released from custody. Her name was not released.
Police have issued an arrest warrant for Dennis Lawrence Russell Spence, 44, in connection to the investigation.
