Winnipeg police major crimes detectives are searching for suspects in several unrelated robberies in recent days.

In the first incident, Winnipeg Police Service patrol officers were called to a business on the first 100 block of Alpine Avenue at about 10 p.m. Monday, where a man and woman had just ran off with merchandise.

A 28-year-old security guard, along with other employees, had tried to stop the thieves, but the woman assaulted the guard, police spokesman Const. Steve Spencer said.

The victim went to hospital for his injuries, while the man and woman drove off in what appeared to be a white Dodge Caravan.

Police say both the man and woman appear Indigenous and between the ages of 40 and 50. The woman had a medium build and black hair. She was wearing a dark grey Adidas jacket with white stripes on the sleeves. The man was wearing all black.

Then on Tuesday at about 11 p.m., police officers, including those in the service’s helicopter and police dog units, were called to a mugging in the Peguis area.

The victim, a man in his 20s, had just got off a Winnipeg Transit bus when two males, who had also been riding the bus, confronted and assaulted him.

The pair made off with stolen property and ran away, while the man was taken to hospital in stable condition.

The suspects are described as teenage boys. One was wearing a puffer-style winter jacket and was about five-foot-four. The other was wearing a mask and black jacket.

Most recently, patrol officers and the dog unit were called to a gas station robbery on the 1400 block of Henderson Highway at about 4:45 a.m. Thursday.

A man, dressed in black with his face covered, entered the store while armed with an unspecified weapon and demanded cigarettes from the employee behind the counter.

The clerk complied and wasn’t hurt. The suspect ran off with cigarettes.

Detectives are still working on getting a better description of the suspect.

Police ask anyone with information on any of the robberies to call major crimes detectives at 204-986-6219 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 204-786-8477.
