Two women are facing charges after police in Baldur, Man., searched a house and seized drugs and “unmarked” tobacco.

On Thursday, Manitoba First Nations Police Service (MFNPS) search a house in the community about 200 kms southwest of Winnipeg and found 40.43 grams of cocaine, 172.24 grams of cannabis, $2,465, brass knuckles and unstamped tobacco

Eight individuals were taken into custody.

Two women have been charged with a slew of charges, including:

Possess for the purpose of trafficking, cocaine x 2
Unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon
Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000
Possession of illicit cannabis
Possession of cannabis for the purpose of selling
Distribute more than 30 grams of dried cannabis
Possess fewer than 25 units of unmarked tobacco (Tobacco Tax Act)
Unauthorized sale of cannabis (Liquor and Gaming Control Act)

This investigation was spurred by Swan Lake First Nation community members voicing concerns over the drug activity in their community.

Members of the MFNPS Swan Lake detachment, CIU and K9 unit, and the RCMP were involved in the execution of the search.

Two Baldur women aged 33 and 53 were arrested and charged.
