Two men are facing charges after objects were thrown at the Dauphin RCMP detachment in separate incidents.

Someone threw a large rock through a front window, “narrowly missing visitors and employees,” at about 12:15 p.m. Friday, police said in a news release Monday.

Officers chased someone running from the scene and tried to stop a man on 1st Avenue Northeast. He allegedly raised a collapsible baton, so an officer fired a Taser at him. It failed to stop the man, who fled on foot.

A 39-year-old man was arrested after a rock was thrown through a window at the Dauphin RCMP detachment Friday.

The man struck the officer with the baton when they met up again on 4th Avenue Southeast, the release said. The officer arrested the man after a brief struggle, RCMP said.

A 39-year-old Dauphin man faces two counts each of assaulting a police officer with a weapon and resisting a peace officer, and single counts of carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and mischief over $5,000.

The man was remanded into custody. The officer was not hurt.

On Sunday, at 2:45 a.m., someone in Dauphin called 911 and hung up before calling again. The caller said he was going to the detachment to discuss something with officers.

Shortly after the second call, RCMP officers saw a minivan drive into the parking lot and then onto the curb outside the front door.

A man got out of the vehicle and threw a beer bottle at the building before being arrested, the release said.
