The province is still a few weeks away from officially launching this year’s fall flu and COVID-19 campaign, but Manitobans can already roll up their sleeves at several local pharmacies.

A provincial spokesperson said while it has yet to make the official announcement about the campaign, all Manitobans aged six months and up are being offered free vaccinations for COVID-19.

The province’s vaccine website says while all Manitobans are eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine, it’s “strongly recommended” for adults 65 and older, residents of long-term care homes and other congregate living settings, Indigenous people, those who have underlying medical conditions placing them at higher risk of severe COVID-19, including children with complex health needs, women who are pregnant and people who provide essential community services.

The spokesperson said people can book appointments for both the flu and COVID-19 shots by going online or calling the provincial call centre Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., at 1-844-626-8222.

As well, many local pharmacies already have the vaccines and have been administering them and booking appointments. To find which pharmacies have the vaccines, you can go to: wfp.to/iJW
