A 38-year-old man from the RM of West St. Paul is facing several firearms-related charges following a road rage incident Saturday night.
RCMP say a 35-year-old driver was travelling near Highway 8 and Grassmere Road shortly after 8 p.m. when a man in another vehicle allegedly pointed a handgun at him during a confrontation.
“The suspect and the victim were driving in the same direction,” an RCMP spokesperson said Tuesday. “The suspect was driving erratically (brake checking) when he pulled up next to the victim’s vehicle and pointed the firearm.”

Officers responded to the report and, at approximately 8:30 p.m., located the suspect’s vehicle at a home in the RM of West St. Paul. The driver was arrested without incident. A subsequent search of the home led to the seizure of a CO2-powered air pistol and two additional long guns.
The man has been charged with pointing a firearm, careless use of a firearm and unsafe storage of a firearm.
He was released with conditions and is scheduled to appear in court on April 21 in Winnipeg. Police said the victim and the suspect were not known to each other.
Police said they are still sorting out what happened before the confrontation. The investigation is ongoing.
