Convicted sex offender admits to sneaking into elementary school, assaulting nine-year-old in washroom

Prosecutors will be seeking a sentence of up to eight years in prison for a convicted sex offender who assaulted a nine-year-old girl in an elementary school washroom, just 10 days after his release from jail.

Standing in the prisoner’s box, 28-year-old Scott William George hung his head down and looked at the floor as he entered guilty pleas Tuesday to assault, forcible confinement and four counts of breaching court orders.

George is expected to be sentenced next winter following the completion of a court ordered pre-sentence report, a forensic psychological report and cognitive assessment.

“There is a belief there are probably some issues there,” defence lawyer Wendy Martin White told provincial court Judge Stacy Cawley.

George was previously convicted of sexual interference and sentenced in April 2023 to two years in jail. His sentence included a 10-year order that prohibited him from attending schools, playgrounds or parks. He was also prohibited from contacting or communicating with anyone under the age of 16.

On Nov. 20, 2025, just three days after he was released from custody, George walked into Dakota Collegiate High School through an unlocked door after school hours and stole a laptop computer, according to an agreed statement of facts provided to court.

George returned to the school a week later and walked through the school before staff members stopped him and escorted him outside.

“She was very upset. She said, ‘Help, there was someone trying to grab me.’ She described being grabbed over her stomach and mouth by a man in all black in the washroom.”

Once outside, George made his way to Darwin School, where surveillance video captured him entering the building shortly before 1 p.m. and proceeding directly to the boys washroom. George exited the washroom a minute later, talked briefly to a boy at a water fountain, returned to the washroom for another minute, then exited again and walked into the girls washroom.

George was still in the washroom when the nine-year-old girl walked in five minutes later.

The girl ran out of the washroom two minutes later — followed by George, who exited the building — and told her teacher she had been attacked in the washroom.

“Her teacher described (the girl) as ‘terrified,’” said the agreed statement of facts. “She was crying, hyperventilating and screaming when she came into the room. She was very upset. She said, ‘Help, there was someone trying to grab me.’ She described being grabbed over her stomach and mouth by a man in all black in the washroom.”

The school principal’s husband was leaving the parking lot when he saw a “suspicious male” walking across a baseball diamond and followed him to St. Vital Centre shopping mall, where police arrested him a short time later.

In a subsequent video interview, the girl said she had just finished a spelling test when she went to the washroom and noticed someone occupying the stall next to her. When she exited the stall, a man dressed in black grabbed her from behind, wrapping one arm around her waist and the other over her mouth.

“She fought back, ripped his hands off her and ran screaming to the classroom,” says the agreed statement of facts.

Interviewed by police, George said he’d made a “terrible” mistake and asked for the girl’s forgiveness.

“I’ll be your friend, I’ll do better next time,” he said.

As reported in the Free Press on Monday, George’s arrest prompted the Louis Riel School Division to introduce sweeping security upgrades, including electronic sign-in stations and visitor badges that allow principals to keep track of people entering and exiting their schools.
