An overland flood watch has been issued for parts of western and northwestern Manitoba, including the Parkland region, while weather forecasters predict heavy rain from Saturday to Monday.
There was still some uncertainty Friday about the timing, intensity and total amounts of rain expected.
However, it is highly likely that parts of western and northwestern Manitoba, and the Saskatchewan and Assiniboine river basins in Saskatchewan, could receive more than 60 millimetres of rain, the province said.

Some weather forecast models suggest thunderstorms could lead to localized rainfall amounts of more than 80 mm.
Most other parts of southern, southwestern and central Manitoba, including the Interlake, could get 40 to 60 mm of rain, the province said.
Localized overland flooding, particularly areas that are low-lying, have poor drainage or have received significant rainfall from previous storms this month.
Rainfall may also contribute to increased runoff, rising flows and elevated water levels on some rivers, streams and drainage systems, the province said.
The overland flood watch was issued by Manitoba’s hydrologic forecast centre.
A flood warning is still in effect for the Assiniboine River, from the Shellmouth Dam to Brandon. High water advisories remain in effect for Lake of the Prairies, Swan Lake, Red Deer Lake and the Red Deer River near its mouth at Highway 10.
Heavy rain led to significant overland flooding in several communities and in farm fields in western and southern Manitoba, and the Interlake earlier this month, prompting the provincial government to set up a disaster financial assistance program.
