WINNIPEG — One of Petcetera’s three former Winnipeg stores is back in business.

The big-box pet supplies outlet at 915 Empress St. was one of a dozen former Petcetera stores that re-opened last Saturday under the same owner, Vancouver entrepreneur and Petcetera founder Dan Urbani, but a new corporate name — New Petcetera Retail Ltd.

Another eight stores — seven in British Columbia and one in Saskatchewan — are scheduled to reopen this Saturday.

Urbani reacquired the 20 stores, which were the best performers among the 49 that closed when the Petcetera chain was placed into receivership last June, in order to relaunch them.

Urban said in a written statement released today the 20 stores, which also include outlets in Alberta, Ontario and Nova Scotia, will feature more products, more employees, better service, and a new look.
