PEOPLE
Lisa Duxbury
has joined Heather Sarna & Associates as director of interior design. Duxbury brings an extensive knowledge in residential and commercial interior design, having received her Bachelor of Interior Design from the University of Manitoba. She will be responsible for all aspects of HSA Design’s interior design projects, from conceptual development through construction.
Kelly de Groot
has been appointed acting president & CEO by the board of directors of St. Boniface Hospital Foundation. As the finance and managing director with the foundation for the last two years, de Groot has held senior positions in both the private and public sectors, and has board experience as a former school trustee.
Colleen Coates
has been appointed practice leader, total compensation, at People First HR. In addition to leading the recently published 2009 Compensation Survey for Manitoba, Coates provides expert consulting in all aspects of compensation and benefits. Coates has spent 20 years in the private sector with both national and international organizations in such roles as vice-president and business partner.
Janice Miles
has joined Tell Us About Us Inc. (TUAU) as chief financial officer. Miles has held various senior management roles in the IT and professional services sectors, both in private and public firms. She has been involved in the CA profession and serves on the board of directors of the CA School of Business.
AWARDS
Ted Eastley
Manitoba Rural Adaptation Council executive director, has been awarded the Canadian Society of Association Executives 2009 National Conference Scholarship. He will be recognized at the CSAE National Conference in Toronto from Nov. 25 to 27. As a new CSAE member, Eastley was eligible to receive this year’s scholarship. Seven scholarships are awarded annually and Eastley was selected as the Manitoba recipient. Prior to joining MRAC as executive director in June 2008, Eastley held various positions at the Assiniboine Community College in Brandon.
Bookmates Inc.
The Canadian Council of Learning has selected the Bookmates Alphabet Soup program as a promising practice to be highlighted through its Sharing the Flame program. The Alphabet Soup program was developed in 2002/2003 in collaboration with Bookmates Inc. and the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority and advisory participation from parents and staff of four district community groups.
