WINNIPEG — Things are looking good for local job-seekers, according to the latest help wanted index report from the Conference Board of Canada.

The Ottawa-based think tank said today that Winnipeg is one of 18 Canadian cities showing positive employment prospects for the near term.

However, because the Canadian economy is slowing, the job growth will likely be weaker than it was earlier in the year, the board added.

A total of 27 cities are included in the board survey. It said the near-term employment prospects are stable in four cities and down in five others.
