A Winnipeg group is adding at least two more outlets to its growing empire of Boston Pizza franchises in Manitoba.

Boston Pizza — Enright Group plans to open a new restaurant/sports bar late this fall in the redeveloped River East Plaza on the southeast corner of Henderson Highway and Chief Peguis Trail.

And later this year or early next year, it plans to open a franchise in Steinbach, company co-owner Richard Enright said Friday.

The two additions will give Enright Group, owned by Richard and his wife, Kim, 13 Boston Pizza franchises in the province. It already has nine in Winnipeg and one each in Selkirk and Portage la Prairie.

Richard Enright said they have no intention of stopping at 13 restaurants.

“There is a demand for our brand, and there are still a number of areas where there’s lots of potential (for expansion), including west Winnipeg and out by Sage Creek (in southeast Winnipeg),” he said.

“And we’ve really noticed how uptempo Winnipeg is now. People really feel like going out and celebrating, and that’s really helped us out.”

Enright said the group had been trying “forever” to open an outlet in northeast Winnipeg.

So when a stand-alone pad became available in River East Plaza, they jumped on it.

He said their restaurant/sports bar will be situated in front of the new Canada Safeway store in the Safeway-owned retail centre.

The Enrights opened their first Boston Pizza franchise 15 years ago at Portage Avenue and Moray Street. They also own franchises in Ontario.

The Richmond-B.C.-based Boston Pizza International Inc. bills itself as Canada’s top casual-dining restaurant chain, with more than 340 outlets across the country.
