WESTERN Financial Group has acquired Orion Insurance Brokers Ltd., a Transcona Autopac and property and casualty insurance brokerage fixture for close to 20 years.
The insurance brokerage will continue to operate with the same staff of six employees out of its Kildare Avenue East location. Sheryle Lazaruk, office manager at Orion, said staff is excited and expects to carry on business without missing a beat.
“We’re excited to welcome the Orion staff to our team and to offer the benefits of our large network and wide range of products to the citizens of Transcona,” said Scott Tannas, president and CEO of Western Financial Group, in a statement.
The financial institution, based in High River, Alta., has a large presence already in Winnipeg with about 380 employees. The company is poised to consolidate some of its other operations into about 100,000 square feet of space in a new building under construction at the old Winnipeg Arena site.
Earlier this year, Western Financial also acquired Roblin Insurance Travel and Realty Agencies Ltd. in Roblin. Orion had been acquired by the P.M.C. group of brokerages in 2008.
