Corey La Berge

has taken the position as the new Deputy Children’s Advocate for Manitoba, as announced by Manitoba Children’s Advocate, Darlene MacDonald. La Berge has held teaching and research appointments at Simon Fraser University, the University of Victoria and the University of Manitoba. He has conducted medical research on the barriers that exist for persons with fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD). Aware of the challenges for persons with FASD, La Berge returned to university and earned a law degree. Since then he has championed the rights and best interests of children and youth within the legal system as legal counsel and as a tireless advocate for better resources for young people involved in the justice system.
