Hey there, time traveller!
This article was published 14/12/2015 (3674 days ago), so information in it may no longer be current.
It appears popular U.S. retailers such as Brooks Brothers, Coach and J.Crew could be among the 90-plus stores setting up shop in Winnipeg’s first premium fashion outlet mall.
Those are some of the names shown on a site plan for the Outlet Collection Winnipeg mall, which is in the early stages of construction at the corner of Kenaston Boulevard and Sterling Lyon Parkway.
Other retailers listed on the site plan that would also be new to the city include Designer Shoe Warehouse, Corning Ware, Calvin Klein, Gerry Weber, Nike and Reebok.
Many of the retailers shown on the plan already have stores in Winnipeg, including the Gap, American Eagle, Foot Locker, Skechers and Danier. But as the name of the mall implies, the ones in Outlet Collection will be outlet stores, which typically sell brand-name items at 25 to 75 per cent off regular retail prices.
Quebec-based Ivanhoé Cambridge, the lead developer of the Outlet Collection Winnipeg mall, has revealed the name of only one tenant. Earlier this month, it announced a 32,191-square-foot Saks Fifth Avenue Off 5th, which is the discount version of the high-end fashion retailer Saks Fifth Avenue, would be the mall’s anchor tenant.
A company spokeswoman said Monday the site plan in question was included in a request for proposals that was issued six months ago to potential construction contractors.
“The plan was for logistical purposes only, and does not reflect the current list of tenants,” Katherine Roux Groleau said. “The leasing has evolved significantly over the last six months and will continue to evolve until grand opening. At this time, we cannot confirm the names of the retailers that we have signed so far.”
However, Ken Yee, a retail-leasing specialist with Cushman & Wakefield Winnipeg said earlier this month the Winnipeg mall will likely feature many of the same tenants included in Ivanhoé Cambridge’s Niagara Outlets Collection mall in Niagara Falls, Ont.
Similar names
And many of the retailers on the Winnipeg site plan are tenants in the Niagara Falls mall and in other premium fashion outlet malls in Canada.
The $200-million Outlet Collection Winnipeg mall will be the centrepiece in the 117-acre Outlets of Seasons retail, office and residential development Regina-based Harvard Developments Inc. and Forster Projects Inc. are building across the street from IKEA.
Two luxury-car dealerships — St. James Audi and Porsche Centre Winnipeg — a hotel, a grocery and drug store, a high-end apartment block and an assisted-living complex are some of the other tenants slated to go into the Outlets of Seasons development.
Some of the other names on the Outlet Collections Winnipeg site plan include: DKNY, Eddie Bauer, Tommy Hilfiger, Guess, Bebe, Boathouse, Below the Belt, Famous Footwear, Nygård, Haggar, Cole Haan, Ugg, Jack & Jones, Vans, Adidas, Chicos, Michael Kors, La Vie En Rose, Children’s Place, Levis, Mountain Warehouse, Think Kitchen, Oakley, Talbots, Disney Store, Naturalizer, Soft Moc, Roots, Lacoste, Cru, Browns, Fossil, Aldo, Lucky Brand, Buffalo, Puma, Body Shop, New Balance, Converse, Quicksilver, Sunglass Hut, Peoples, Rocky Mountain, Zumiez, Lids, Bench and Volcom.
