Providence University College will officially launch the Buller School of Business and unveil its $12.5 million fundraising campaign on the Otterburne campus on Tuesday.
Health Minister Kelvin Goertzen, the MLA for Steinbach, and Emerson Tory MLA Cliff Graydon will preside over a ceremony honouring Kitchen Craft and Norcraft co-founders Herb and Erna Buller.
Providence said in a news release that the business school offers Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degrees and “equips students with the knowledge, skills and character required for leadership and service in the business sector. Buller business students receive hands-on experience running student-led small businesses, participate in green projects including a Biomass Brokerage and eWaste Recycling system, and have opportunities to pursue double majors in fields such as agri-business, aviation and communications.”
Buller School of Business courses are being delivered in new spaces made possible by the IMPACT 2020 campaign, the largest fundraising campaign in institution history. The $12.5 million effort has so far delivered new science programming, a laboratory, a landscaped courtyard and a Welcome Centre that houses all student services. More than 67 per cent of the IMPACT 2020 fundraising target has already been realized in the form of cash and pledges.
The campaign is chaired by Don Streuber of Bison Transport.
Providence president David Johnson said in a prepared statement, “This is a momentous occasion for Providence. The Buller School of Business will help develop difference-makers at Providence—students who will move into or even start businesses that will make a positive impact in communities in Manitoba, Canada and around the world.”
