The Manitoba Information and Communication Technology Association (MICTAM) is now Tech Manitoba.
MICTAM has changed its name to the more succinct, common parlance of Tech Manitoba.
“We’re still the same organization. Our purpose has not changed,” Tech Manitoba CEO Kathy Knight said. “We just wanted something that was more reflective of the organization and who we represented.”
She said, globally, people are using the ICT acronym less and more people in the technology and tech-enabled industry were just referring to themselves as being part of the “tech” sector.
“We were also finding that more and more people were asking us what ICTAM meant and there was some awkwardness in people saying it,” she said.
