A rapidly growing technology-focused mortgage brokerage has opened two offices in Winnipeg.

Pineapple Financial touts itself as being digital-focused, using cloud-based and artificial intelligence-driven systems. It has a network of partner brokerages and salespeople across Canada.

Last year, Pineapple Financial ranked 27th on the Globe & Mail’s list of top-growing Canadian companies. The list highlighted a 1,452 per cent year-over-year revenue growth at the brokerage; Pineapple Financial’s 2022 revenue landed in the $25 million to $50 million range.

Winnipeg is the latest target in the Toronto-based company’s expansion.

Pineapple Financial recently announced locations on Mountain Avenue and Osborne Street. Over the next year, it expects to yield upwards of $100 million in new mortgage originations in Winnipeg, according to a company news release.

It’s holding an open house at 267 Mountain Ave. today.

Manitoba “holds significant growth potential,” Pineapple Financial’s release states. Interview requests weren’t accommodated by print deadline.

Winnipeg has the most affordable housing market among Canada’s seven largest cities, the brokerage noted.

An average detached home in Winnipeg cost $396,833 last month.

Manitoba has become the sixth province to house Pineapple Financial. Brokers from CIBC and RBC will lead the Winnipeg offices.

Pineapple Financial will share its Mountain Avenue space with Upsurge Financial Services and Alark Co. Events & Marketing, which has organized the Tyndall Community Market and the StrEat Feast Festival at The Forks, among other things.

Women will lead all three businesses on Mountain Avenue, Lou Alarkon from Alark Co. underscored in a news release.

Pineapple Financial became a publicly traded company last November. It’s working to expand its business throughout North America.

In 2023, it won a Canadian Mortgage Award for digital innovation in a brokerage.
