OTTAWA – A quick look at Canada’s June employment figures (numbers from the previous month in brackets):
Unemployment rate: 6.4 per cent (6.2)
Employment rate: 61.1 per cent (61.3)
Participation rate: 65.3 per cent (65.4)
Number unemployed: 1,407,100 (1,365,100)
Number working: 20,516,400 (20,517,800)
Youth (15-24 years) unemployment rate: 13.5 per cent (12.6)
Men (25 plus) unemployment rate: 5.4 per cent (5.3)
Women (25 plus) unemployment rate: 5.0 per cent (5.0)
