For the second time since the COVID-19 pandemic, downtown Winnipeg has clocked a net increase in businesses.

The Downtown Winnipeg BIZ tracked six openings between April and June, according to its second quarter report, to be released today. Five companies closed or left, leaving a net gain of one.

The results follow 2024’s first quarter, when downtown experienced its first net increase in businesses since March of 2020.

Dynasty Cafe, Boujee Restaurant and Bar, King St. Corner Store, Stack House Jewellery, Sunny Day Café and Sushi Point were downtown’s new offerings in the second quarter.

The Downtown Winnipeg BIZ tracked a 23.5 per cent increase in downtown visitation this spring compared to last.
