Home sales rose year-over-year in October, continuing a months-long streak of house purchases trending upwards.

Overall, Winnipeg and its surrounding regions logged a 19 per cent increase in home sales this October compared to the same time in 2023, the Winnipeg Regional Real Estate Board found. There were 1,337 purchases.

Residential detached home sales climbed 19 per cent year-over-year, while condominium sales jumped 24 per cent — the second best October on record for condo buys.

Prices also increased. A typical residential detached house cost seven per cent more this year (at an average $427,237). The average condo price — $265,083 — was two per cent higher.

Year-to-date sales are up 12 per cent.

October brought 10 per cent fewer listings than the year before; 3,624 houses were on the market. The month was the third in 2024 where home sales met or exceeded 2023 and five-year averages.
