The Assiniboine Park Conservancy has announced a new name for its under-renovation cricket pitches: Princess Auto Cricket Field.

The Winnipeg field has undergone major renovations this year, including a redesign to create two full-size cricket pitches, turf replacement and the installation of a new irrigation system. New batting and bowling cages are slated for completion later this year.

The site will be called Princess Auto Cricket Field for 10 years. Princess Auto, a Manitoba-grown company, also has the sponsor title name of the football stadium housing the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

The new cricket field increases opportunities to host tournaments on the local to international scale, according to the conservancy.
