WestJet Airlines is extending service between Winnipeg and Orlando year-round and will offer its Winnipeg to Nashville route for six months next year.

The Calgary-based company announced the changes Monday, when it released its summer 2025 schedule, which includes a 19 per cent growth in seat capacity.

In a news release, WestJet said people flying out of Winnipeg will see increased flight frequency on routes across Western Canada, including Calgary, Edmonton, Regina, Vancouver, Victoria and Kelowna, B.C.

“WestJet remains committed to offering Manitobans more affordable fares, flexibility and choice this summer,” John Weatherill, executive vice-president and chief commercial officer, said in a news release.(Jeff McIntosh / The Canadian Press files)

WestJet will fly to Orlando from Winnipeg once a week. After a two-month trial service this fall, the company will fly to Nashville from Winnipeg twice a week from April 28 to Oct. 24, 2025.

WestJet is excited to add this non-stop route as a permanent fixture in the summer 2025 schedule, John Weatherill, executive vice-president and chief commercial officer, said in a news release.

“WestJet remains committed to offering Manitobans more affordable fares, flexibility and choice this summer,” he said.

In July, WestJet announced first-time direct routes to Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and San Jose del Cabo, Mexico.

Over the past two years, the 28-year-old company has launched direct flights to Los Angeles and Atlanta from Winnipeg, and it’s surpassed the number of flights offered pre-COVID-19 pandemic.
