Average price of detached home hits new high
The average price of a residential detached home in Winnipeg and surrounding areas hit a new high in March.
A house of the kind was, on average, $470,399 — a 12 per cent year-over-year increase, according to the Winnipeg Regional Real Estate Board.
Within Winnipeg, the home price jumped nine per cent year-over-year, to $455,506. Outside Winnipeg, the number rose 15 per cent, hitting $446,410.
Sales also increased in March compared to the same month last year. The WRREB tracked 1,189 during the month, or a six per cent rise. Home listings, meanwhile, dropped nine per cent (to 3,096 units).
February 2025 previously held the crown for highest average residential detached price, the WRREB’s president noted.
Mineral development funding boost
Upwards of $2.5 million has been earmarked for 12 projects through the Manitoba Mineral Development Fund.
The five-year-old, $20-million provincial fund targets northern economic development and mineral exploration projects.
The 12 projects are expected to draw $11.9 million worth of investment in resource development, 66 short-term jobs and 132 long-term jobs, per a provincial government news release.
Already, the fund has approved 108 projects and dispersed $18 million into mining, community economic development and Indigenous enterprise and partnership projects, the release highlights, adding these projects have leveraged $128 million worth of investments.
Activate to enter Mexico
Activate, a Winnipeg-born active gaming company, is expanding into Mexico.
The company has partnered with Enigma Rooms, Latin America’s largest escape room company. Activate is first slated to open in Guadalajara. Mexico City, Monterrey, Leen, Queretaro and Puebla are among the communities also circled.
Activate has licensing agreements in more than 20 countries. Locations in Dubai and London have opened; Norway, Germany, Denmark and Kuwait are among the countries with Activate construction.
